a mother's love

In 2022, I posted this picture of my mother and me a few days after her 95th birthday, with this message: My #1 supporter celebrating 95 years of living with her #1 son (the middle of seven children and oldest son) in Temple, Texas. She turned 95 on a Friday but I could not get to Temple because I was in court doing the job the people of Polk, San Jacinto and Trinity Counties elected me to do. My siblings and I were truly blessed with a fantastic mother and father.  I became a lawyer in large part because of her encouragement.  She said I should be a lawyer because I argued with people all the time – mostly her and my six siblings.  My father passed 40 years ago on November 14, 1985.  She joined my father  in June of 2023.  Every time I sign a document I sign my father’s name and I am blessed that I had great parents who never gave up on me.  I miss her but remember how lucky my siblings and I were to have had such great parents to influence our lives.

To Those Who Serve

Judge Travis E. Kitchens holds a profound respect for those who serve in our Country's military, recognizing their sacrifices and dedication. One of the ways this is honored is through the Veterans Museum located in the San Jacinto County Courthouse, which stands as a testament to the bravery of our veterans. Additionally, the halls of the Trinity County Annex are adorned with tributes that celebrate the service of these heroes, reminding us all of the importance of honoring their contributions to our freedom. Judge Kitchens encourages the community to engage with these spaces, fostering a deeper appreciation for our military personnel and their unwavering commitment.
