To the Voters of Polk, San Jacinto and Trinity

Counties:

Subject: Endorsement of District Judge Travis Kitchens

As a former resident and current Trinity County

landowner and peace officer for over 60 years, I

without hesitation endorse Judge Travis Kitchens for

re-election. I have known Judge Kitchens for over 48

years when he first arrived in Trinity/Polk County and

was appointed an Assistant District Attorney. As a

young Texas Ranger, while assigned to Polk, Trinity,

and San Jacinto counties, I had the honor to work with

then Assistant District Attorney Kitchens on a number

of significant cases some of which are highlighted in

my book, “Unlikely Texas Ranger”.

Over the years as I continued my career in the Texas

Rangers, I evenly promoted to Chief of the Texas

Rangers; I continued to maintain a close association

with Judge Kitchens and have valued his counsel many

times. Now as a lawyer and current Sheriff of Bastrop

County, Texas, I have worked with many District Judges

throughout our Great State of Texas and can recognize

that Judge Kitchens is indeed one who represents fair

and impartial justice.
